“Your eye examination is all about you and your vision; that’s why we use state-of-the-art technology to give you a comprehensive eye health check”
Your eyesight is your most important sense and your eyes are the gateway to your general health. Our optometrists can not only identify eye conditions by closely examining your vision, but they can also spot general health problems such as hypertension and diabetes.
Your eye examination will last around 30-45 minutes so that we can give your vision a thorough check and give you peace of mind that your eyesight is healthy. If we do spot any eye conditions that require further analysis, we will discuss the findings with you and offer appropriate treatment.
When you visit our practices, we help you to feel at home and talk to you about your lifestyle and ask you whether or not you have noticed any changes in your vision. This helps our optometrist to complete the appropriate test on your eyes.
Our optometrist will talk you through each step of the test so that you know exactly what is going on. We encourage you to ask our optometrists’ questions too as this will help you to better understand the importance of essential eye care.
We also encourage you to make the most of our state-of-the-art technology, the Nidek Retina Scan Duo HD OCT and the Optomap Daytona Plus. These latest additions to our equipment allow us to give the most comprehensive assessment of the health of your eyes. The Nidek OCT not only takes a detailed image of the back of your eye, including the retina, it actually scans through the individual layers to identify problems that may have previously been undetected until they cause visual symptoms. The Optomap Daytona Plus takes an image of up to 82% of the retina in one picture, unlike previous imaging technology which give you around 15%, allowing us to assess more of the retina, more accurately. For more information on the Daytona click here.
This allows us to catch problems/changes earlier than we have found in the past and better analyse these changes to get you the correct advice, treatment or referral depending on what is necessary. Both of these fantastic advances in technology are quick and non-invasive too, so it is just like having your picture taken. We will then share the image with you and keep it on record so that future comparisons can be made.
After the test, our optometrists will discuss their findings with you before passing you on to our friendly dispensing team. They will then spend some time with you discussing your eyewear needs and finding your ideal glasses and sunglasses.
It is important that your vision is tested regularly, especially if you work with visual display units on a regular basis (VDU).
This test is very similar to a normal comprehensive eye examination. The only difference is that our optometrists will try to recreate your work environment to see how far you sit away from the computer screen and see if you are susceptible to glare caused by nearby windows.
We have a wide range of spectacles that will help you to protect your vision while you work. Our fantastic dispensing team will be on hand to help you select the best pair.
